Gelato contributes rich dessert-like flavors and vibrant terpene expression, derived from Sunset Sherbet and Thin Mint Girl Scout Cookies (GSC), which themselves carry genetics from OG Kush, Durban Poison, and Pink Panties. As a result, Cherry Fudge typically expresses a slightly indica-leaning hybrid profile, reflecting Northern Lights’ influence while retaining Gelato’s balanced hybrid structure.
Cherry Fudge (Northern Lights × Gelato) is a robust indica-dominant hybrid that combines the resilience of Northern Lights with the resin-rich characteristics of Gelato. The strain performs best in controlled indoor environments or warm, Mediterranean-style outdoor climates. Ideal growing temperatures range from 21°C to 29°C (70°F to 85°F), while slightly cooler nighttime temperatures during late flowering can help enhance purple coloration. Humidity should be maintained around 50–60% during vegetative growth and reduced to 40–45% during flowering, with strong airflow provided to protect the dense buds from mold and mildew.
During the vegetative stage, Cherry Fudge responds well to 18–20 hours of daily light, followed by a 12/12 light cycle to initiate flowering. The flowering period typically lasts 8–10 weeks. Due to its naturally thick canopy, training methods such as topping, lollipopping, and Sea of Green (SOG) setups can improve light penetration, airflow, and overall yield potential.
This cultivar thrives in rich, well-draining organic soil with a pH between 6.0 and 6.5. It is considered a moderate feeder, benefiting from nitrogen-rich nutrients during vegetative growth and increased phosphorus and potassium during flowering. Outdoor harvests in the Northern Hemisphere are usually ready by early to mid-October. After harvest, buds should be dried slowly in a cool, dark environment for approximately two weeks, then cured in airtight glass jars for at least four weeks to fully develop Cherry Fudge’s sweet, earthy, spicy, and dessert-like terpene profile.
